Paola Timiras, researcher on aging, dies at 85

September 17, 2008 -

Dr. Paola Timiras, Professor Emerita of Molecular and Cell Biology and Co-Director the Center for Research and Education on Aging (CREA) at the University of California, Berkeley, passed away of heart failure on September 12.

At age 85, Timiras was still a vigorous and influential professor and researcher on aging, a prolific author, and a tireless teacher. A long-term supporter of aging research at Berkeley, Timiras collaborated with several bioengineering faculty. Her accomplishments will continue to be felt, and her presence sorely missed.
