Tutoring Resources Tutoring is available from a number of sources. It is important to seek academic assistance early if you feel that you need it. Some resources:
BioEHS (Bioengineering Honor Society)- Officers and Peer-to-Peer Tutoring and Advising Services offered. See their website above.
Eta Kappa Nu (HKN) provide academic services to fellow undergraduates. Offices are located in 290 Cory and 345 Soda near the northeastern corner of the UC Berkeley campus. Webpage: http://hkn.berkeley.edu/
Student Learning Center - Tutoring in lower division math, science, composition, and social science. Also provides study skills workshops. For further information contact the SLC, 40 Cesar Chavez Center, (510) 642-7332, website: http://slc.berkeley.edu
Residence Hall Academic Services: Academic Services in the Residence Halls provides the academic support services and resources necessary for residential students to transition successfully into academic life at Cal. An Academic Services Center is available in each unit. These services and resources include academic advising, tutoring, faculty-interaction programs, study-space, residential theme programs, and technology services. Charles Tunstall Multicultural Engineering Program (MEP) - Tutoring, and workshops in math and science for MEP students. Located in 222 Bechtel Engineering Center. Website: http://www.coe.berkeley.edu/cues/mep/tutor.html
What kind of computer is recommended for bioengineering students?
We suggest a laptop with at least 1GB of RAM, preferably 2GB. The processor speed and number of cores is relatively unimportant.
The Etcheverry computer lab uses Linux, while individual research labs may use a combination of Linux, Mac, and Windows operating systems. Most of the software you'll need for classes will run on any of these, so don't worry too much about the operating system - go with your preference. The Scholar's Workstation here on campus is a good place to shop with a student discount.
If you're planning on lugging it all over campus, consider the laptop's weight and battery life when purchasing. Get a comfortable laptop backpack to go with it
